Spreemo Health’s Lead Radiologist Honored for Contributions to New York Healthcare


Dr. Herzog’s impact has improved the quality of diagnostics both in New York and nationwide

NEW YORK (February 23, 2017)—Richard Herzog, MD, Executive Director of the Spreemo Health Quality Research Institute, was recently honored with a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) “Promoting Health and Wellness” Award from City & State New York to recognize his efforts in increasing the quality of diagnostic care both in New York and throughout the country.

In his role as the Executive Director of the Spreemo Health Quality Research Institute, Dr. Herzog leads the company’s initiatives to improve patient care by developing metrics and methodologies to assess, predict, and improve the quality of diagnostic imaging. He also serves as Director of Spinal Imaging at Hospital for Special Surgery, the nation’s top-ranked orthopedic hospital, where he collaborates with clinical teams in helping patients move from diagnosis to treatment to recovery.

Through his teaching, research, and over 30 years of clinical experience, Dr. Herzog is widely recognized for his leadership in driving improvements in quality standards in the field of musculoskeletal and spine imaging. He has published over 50 articles in peer-reviewed journals, been invited to teach numerous courses and lectures, served on editorial boards of leading medical journals, and been a Fellow of the North American Spine Society. In addition, he was recently invited by the American College of Radiology to serve on the committee that oversees updates to practice guidelines and standards for the performance of adult spine MRIs. With all of his achievements to date, the common thread throughout Dr. Herzog’s lengthy career has been his relentless commitment to quality of patient care above all else.

The CSR “Promoting Health and Wellness” Awards were presented in a ceremony at Baruch College on February 23, 2017, which drew hundreds of executives and professionals from around New York to honor the 20 awardees and participate in a thought leadership discussion of corporate social responsibility within the health and wellness industries.
